Large Serving Bowl Dimensions - 11" in diameter
Influenced by Asian pottery, mid-century modern design, and rustic sensibility, Mark is an award-winning ceramist (a fancy word for potter) known for his modern, functional pieces and owner of Shade & Shutter Ceramics in Key West. His work has evolved from the period in which he was the principal of Mark Klammer Pottery and a Roycroft artisan. Since relocating from upstate New York, he has developed a new style influenced by the rustic chic atmosphere and cool color palette of Key West.
Mark started working in ceramics in the 1990s in Ithaca, N.Y. After meeting Sarah 14 years ago, he moved to Hammondsport, N.Y., started Mark Klammer Pottery, and became a Roycroft artisan. Mark was a social worker at the time, but he fell in love with pottery right away. His influences include Russell Wright, mid-century modern design, Asian and Scandinavian simplicity, and rustic chic. The shapes are modern, while the finishes are rustic. His designs complement a multitude of aesthetic sensibilities.
Mark’s ceramics are hand-crafted of sturdy stoneware or terra cotta and non-toxic glazes. Because Mark builds the ceramics by hand, each piece is unique, with slight variations in color and size. They are food-safe, microwave-safe, oven-safe, and dishwasher-safe. They will provide years of service on your table.
